On an evening that didn’t seem capable of producing more drama, Titan Benny Capalnas smoked his school record 63rd ace serve of the year on GBS’ second match point, an untouched delivery that landed just inside the back line, to vanquish the third-seeded Maine South Hawks in a three set thriller – 25-21, 23-25, 26-24 – before a boisterous crowd at GBN. The victory was the second-seeded Titans’ third over the Hawks this year, and sends them into a showdown with number one seed Glenbrook North on Tuesday night at 7PM on the Spartans’ home court. The winner will advance to the State Final Tournament. Admission is $5.
