This year, All Players AND Parents have the opportunity to purchase GBS LACROSSE SPIRIT WEAR . Just click for the GBS LACROSSE SPIRITWEAR ORDER FORM, select your items and bring your completed order form with a check made out to the “GBS PARENT LACROSSE BOARD” to the CODE OF CONDUCT Breakfast on Saturday March 12. Coach Brooks is requesting that the Varsity players purchase at least the shooting shirt and practice shorts. The entire package is only $92. The actual quote on the shooting shirt is not what is pictured. Make sure your parents get a look, too!
ANNUAL GBS BOYS AND GIRLS LACROSSE MULCH SALE WITH ADDED SIGNIFICANCE…May 1, 2011
We will once again hold our annual mulch sale to support the Lacrosse Teams. However, this year the sale will take on new significance.
While we know that many of our GBS families have been impacted by cancer, it has also impacted the life of Coach Brooks. As a teenager, Coach Brooks lost his mother to lung cancer. As a tribute to her and to others, especially members of our GBS family who have suffered from or succumbed to this horrible disease, he thought that donating a portion of the proceeds from this year’s mulch sale to cancer research would be added motivation for the boys and girls lacrosse players to sell mulch. The Parent Board agreed and unanimously voted to have a portion of the proceeds donated to this cause. We will be donating a portion of our proceeds to pediatric cancer research at Children’s Memorial Hospital.
Again, participation by players will be mandatory and we are looking for parent volunteers to help coordinate and participate in delivery. The mulch sale and delivery will take place on Sunday May 1, 2011. Mulch sale forms will soon be available on the website and packets will be given to the boys and girls teams at the Booster Club Code of Conduct Breakfast on Saturday March 12, 2011. Attendance is mandatory. Please have your player start soliciting now!!!….it’s for two great causes….pediatric cancer research and the lacrosse teams.
The necessary player sales forms are available now: mulch sale overview,Mulch sale receipt,Mulch sale information sheet, Mulch sale order form
IHSA UPDATE
As some you may already know, the IHSA has delayed the implementation of Lacrosse as a full IHSA sport. While the threshold number of schools to make lacrosse an IHSA sport would never be reached, the IHSA voted to allow lacrosse full sport status with a lesser number. However, due to financial constraints that would go along with this “full” status, some of the schools that originally committed to this happening have backed off. Consequently, lacrosse will remain in the hands of the IHSLA continuing to work closely with the IHSA. It is my understanding that the Varsity playoff system will continue as in years past as opposed to moving in to the regional /sectional system utilized by the IHSA for other sports.
